Digital FreeForm Technology
- New technology has emerged for creating a better progressive lens
- Before digital freeform technology, lenses were created by taking a lens blank and molding it to fit the patient's prescription. This works well, but is not ideal.
- When a freeform lens is digitally surfaced it is created based on the patient's specific needs and measurements.
- The resulting lens has more consistent optical performance over the range of prescription powers within the lens.
- So, instead of starting with a blank lens and trying to mold it to fit the patient, you start with your patient and create a lens designed for them.
- This results in a wider viewing area for far-sighted patients
- An improved distance area for near-sighted patients
- Improved image quality in the central viewing area
- Less peripheral distortion
- Basically, instead of "good" vision with a progressive lens, you can achieve "High Definition" vision with a digital freeform progressive lens
- Schedule your eye exam today to experience what digital freeform technology can do for you!
Computer Vision
- Are you on a computer during your work day?
- Are you tired of tilting your head back to comfortably see your computer through your progressive lens?
- We recommend a pair of computer glasses.
- Choosing the correct lens design for your activities of daily living is very important.
- New technology has given us a variety of lenses designed specifically for all near work.
- This lens would primarily be worn at your desk.
- It has a wide intermediate viewing area paired with a wide near viewing area.
- This means you can easily view your work at a near distance while maintaining a normal, comfortable head position.
Anti-Reflective Treatment
- The lenses the Optometrist uses to deduce your glasses prescription are treated with anti-reflective treatment.
- Without anti-reflective (AR) on your new glasses lenses, you can lose 15% of the quality of your vision due to reflecting light.
- As an added benefit, AR reduces eyestrain at a computer.
- Anti-reflective treatments are also recommended for glare reduction. This coating is clear and can reduce glare not only on computer screens but during night driving.
- This is especially helpful for your children. Children look at whiteboards under fluorescent lighting and many complain about the reflections that occur throughout the day. This causes headaches and eyestrain. AR treatment can reduce this effect.
- Many people do not get this treatment for fear that it will scratch easily and it is hard to keep clean. This is NO LONGER TRUE with the higher quality treatments!
- Crizal with Scotchgard Protector and Kodak Clean 'n' Clear are the latest in the anti-reflective technology.
- These treatment resist scratches, fingerprints, and dust.
- These treatments will even repel water and stains.

Transitions Lenses
- Your eyes need protection from the harmful rays of the sun, just as much as your skin does. These lenses block 100% of UVA and UVB radiation
- These lenses darken quickly outdoors and fade back to clear when indoors
- You can have both a pair of sunglasses and dress glasses with one pair of lenses.
Drivewear
- You may have been told that Transitions lenses do not darken very well in a car. This can be true because the UV rays of the sun activate the lens darkening, and your windshield has a UV blocker in it.
- Drivewear uses a unique combination of polarization and Transitions photochromic technology so that they DO darken in the car.
- These lenses will darken while driving in overcast conditions, bright conditions, and are fantastic sunwear for outdoors.
